I was having a conversation with my brother recently. (He made me promise to keep him anonymous so I’m not using his name.)
I told him that as I’m getting older I spend much more time thinking about eternity and life after death.
I also told him that I want him to be in heaven one day and that I can’t stand the thought of spending eternity without him.
His Reply? “I tend not to think about whats ahead. I let whatever happens happen.”
My heart sank because I know that letting “whatever happens happen” is the quickest way to end up on the broad road which leads to destruction.
I told him “That’s a really bad approach. Did you know that from the moment we are born – we are headed to hell? Every single person on earth, our destination is hell if Jesus doesn’t intervene in our life.”
“Jerry” He said. “Jesus isn’t in everyone’s religion.”
-Silence- My little brother hit me with some profoundly heavy words.
Still underneath the weight of his comment I replied “That’s the problem.”
Jesus isn’t in everyone’s religion. They’re missing out.
We live in a multi-faith world and most of those faiths exclude Jesus. Yet Jesus clearly said “I am the way, and the truth, and the life; no one comes to the Father but through Me.”
If no one comes to the father except through Jesus Christ – and if Jesus isn’t in everyone’s religion…. that’s a huge amount of people heading to hell.
We live in a world that rejects absolutes. However Jesus is absolutely the only way to God. We live in a world that rejects Jesus as the only way to God – and that weighs super heavy on me.
If you are reading this and if you haven’t already, I pray that you start including Jesus in your religion. He will turn your world right side up.
