I love God’s word.
His word has power when you read it and His word has power when you speak it.
I wonder what kind of power it has in simply carrying it with you?
During the silence of my 20 minute drive home from work I was contemplating the new Bible I bought.
It’s an ultra-slim New King James edition; perfect for carrying with you wherever you go.
I had a thought – perhaps a still small voice even, whispering in my ear – What if I were to carry my Bible with me everywhere? Would it make a difference in my life? I understand it has power when absorbed through study, prayer and meditation but what about simply having it with me at all times – not just at church but at the supermarket, at a restaurant, at work, at the dry cleaner, to the movie theater, on an airplane and in a submarine? Everywhere!
What kind of conversations might it start? Perhaps it’s presence may even inspire others to go home and find their Bible? Or purchase one? Maybe the presence of God’s word would be just enough to draw other’s thoughts to God – possibly even convicting them to return to a right relationship with Him?
All of this ran through my head while driving, with my windows down, in the quiet of the night.
Why not try it? I decided to turn it into a 30 day challenge. I call it the ‘Your Word Is With Me’ challenge. I will take my Bible with me everywhere I go for the next 30 days and see what kind of changes it makes in my life and document what kind of impact it makes on the world around me. I won’t blog about it every day, but perhaps weekly updates.
Will you try it to? All I ask is that you keep me updated on your experiences.
Let’s all keep His word near us and watch as the power of His word changes your life, your community, your country and the world.
