If you have surrendered your life to Christ and believe that He is the promised Messiah, then you have been forgiven and washed in the blood of the Lamb. If you have been forgiven and washed in His blood, you are born again. If you are born again, you are a child of God!
As I proved from scripture in my previous post, only those who believe that Jesus is who He claimed to be are brought into the family of God as children and heirs with Christ.
“You have received the spirit of God’s adopted children by which we call out, “Abba! Father!” 16 The Spirit himself testifies with our spirit that we are God’s children. 17 If we are his children, we are also God’s heirs.”
There is only one way into God’s family and it’s not through a physical birth; It is through a spiritual birth brought about by the Holy Spirit. So then how could such a dangerous myth perpetuate? Why is it that despite strong scriptural evidence to the contrary, people continue to deny the truth?
2 Timothy 4:3-4
3 A time will come when people will not listen to accurate teachings. Instead, they will follow their own desires and surround themselves with teachers who tell them what they want to hear. 4 People will refuse to listen to the truth and turn to myths.
We live in days such as this. Men and women claiming to be of God are teaching a false message of universalism – that we are all children of God and no matter our religion or beliefs, will all go to heaven. This message certainly sounds warm, loving and accepting. However it’s complete myth! Yet the world would prefer to have their ears tickled with tolerant and accepting words over the truth.
But know that our God is an awesome God! Even though being a child of God is exclusive to those who accept Jesus Christ as savior, the ability to become a child of God is not exclusive to anyone! Whoever is willing to surrender their life to Christ and be born again is welcome into His kingdom. God does not want anyone to perish, His will is that everyone would recognize their need for Him and repent. My favorite verse is found in Revelation and really shows Gods heart for salvation.
“17 The Spirit and the bride say, “Come.” Let anyone who hears this say, “Come.” Let anyone who is thirsty come. Let anyone who desires drink freely from the water of life.”
Jesus issues an open invitation, whoever has an ear let them hear! If you’re thirsty, come! If you’re willing, come! If you want to be a child of God, come and drink the living water that Jesus Christ offers.
