It can be very easy to live for the here and now.
Growing up on earth, it’s all we’ve ever known – so it seems only natural that we live with the earth in mind. However the Bible tells us that there is so much more to life than the here and now. There is so much more than what we can see, touch, taste or smell.
No, no we do not cease living after death if we are in Christ but we have a great beyond that stretches out forever and ever. An eternity of life abundant and that is what we are living for! (more…)

Through most of my life I was poor.
As a kid neither of my parents worked – we lived off of welfare.  The family car was a beat up clunker that was given to us and living conditions were cramped, having to share a room with my sister. (more…)

In the early 90’s my dad bought a motorcycle.
I remember the day he brought it home, I was about 8 or 9 – he came riding up into the driveway with a new leather jacket and a helmet. I was so excited, it was like my dad was Evil Knievel. I begged him to take me for a ride, “Please dad please!” I cried over and over again as he started it up and revved the motor. He was preparing to take it for a spin and I was adamant that he take me with him – but he wouldn’t. So I did the only sensible thing and shouted a curse at him. (more…)

I am going to be a father soon. I can’t stop dwelling on that statement.
I know that i’m not the first person to go through this experience and I certainly won’t be the last – but it’s my time now. Others have had their time and still others will have their time – but it’s my time now, to be a father. I pray I don’t screw it up. (more…)

Prayer 03/22/12

Father God,
Thank you for every new day and every new breath. It’s so easy to take each of these for granted. Remind me to stop rushing and live in this minute, this moment –  because it is really all that we have.

A question that i’m sure everyone has heard (Or maybe even asked) is “Why do bad things happen to good people?”
We assume ourselves to be naturally good and deserving of good things – so when disaster strikes, when problems arise, when we get sick or someone we love dies, we cry out “What did I do to deserve this?” (more…)
