I recently read a blog post by a pastor friend of mine named Dave Flowers – Ten Things Christians Say That Drive Me Crazy

I enjoyed the post and understood on some level much of what he had to say, however he made a comment in his list that I certainly had to take issue with. The third saying on his list had to do with Christians who refer to “The last days” or “The end times” and he followed with this comment: “I’m not sure if any concept has been responsible for more “Christian” lunacy than this. Setting aside the fact that the theological concept of the “rapture” was almost completely invented in the early 1800′s…”  He followed with more on this issue that drives him crazy but this quote in particular stood out to me. I was having a conversation with my brother recently. (He made me promise to keep him anonymous so I’m not using his name.)

I told him that as I’m getting older I spend much more time thinking about eternity and life after death.

Would you be willing to pray this prayer? God, bring me closer to You during this trip, whatever it takes…” (more…)

There is a truth about Christianity that many people overlook (or purposely ignore.)

FOLLOWING CHRIST IS NOT EASY!
It is not a venture that can be taken lightly, half-heartily or lukewarmly. Being a Christ follower takes careful consideration and is full of sacrifice. (more…)

I read Rob Bells controversial book “Love Wins” back in April. I’ve been letting the information I took in from his book simmer in my mind. At first it made perfect sense to me and I attempted taking on the belief that there is no hell — that ultimately God was going to save everyone. Over time though this belief turned sour inside of me. Each time I told myself that Hell wasn’t real, that God loves us too much to send us to such a place, I found increasing Biblical evidence to the contrary. (more…)

God loves you.

In a world where people (Christians even) condemn you, judge you, attack you and hate you, I believe it’s important that you hear this message; God loves you! (more…)
